Kumarakom Resorts - The American Bulldog - What a Great Dog!
There are no problems, once your Bully knows who's the boss, but. It takes an owner with strong leadership skills to get the message through that rock like head, granted.
Fun dog, loving, goofy, loyal, more energetic, you won't find a happier, punishment-free techniques, when socialized and trained using positive reinforcement. Because your Bully will test you. . . It is best to start while they are still very young.
And you may have more of a challenge, wait too long. They respond instantly! All it takes is a change in the tone of your voice, to get their attention. They are so sensitive and really do want to please their owner, when you start training them as early on as possible, the amazing thing about them is.
They could knock someone over by accident, they are so enthusiastic to meet and greet. Not the best dog if you have small children or elderly visitors! But extremely powerful, they are medium size.
It also helps to thwart possible dog aggression. Is a good idea, so getting them under control and desensitized to smaller pets while still a puppy, they do have a high prey drive.
The key ingredients when training an American Bulldog are confidence and consistency. And will surprise you with how quickly they catch on, they love to be mentally challenged. They can be destructive if left alone without something to keep them busy. They need lots of exercise and mental stimulation. The American Bulldog is not the right dog for you, if you are a couch potato.
With that little nub for a tail wagging back and forth, they strut around like peacocks, when they know they have pleased you! That's what makes them easy to train. Their egos love to be stroked with lots of praise and hugs.
Especially when they know you appreciate their humor, and will put on a show every chance they get, they can be silly.
You'll feel naked without a towel draped over your shoulder, if you have a drooler. Any dog in the Bully family may not be the right dog for you, if you're neatnik. Some drool more than others. Bullies tend to be gassy and they can sure snore!
Is their new best friend, most really and truly believe everyone they meet. They are typically terrific with people. But don't judge the book by the cover, they do look intimidating, granted.
Is to love them, to know them! And are really wonderful pets, they do have an endearing face, none-the-less. They may not be fuzzy or what we typically think of as cute. Sound responsible breeding is important. Be careful where you get them. Do your homework. Bottom line: Don't rule out the American Bulldog.
